Working under the spread of COVID-19 and following the CZU fires, soup kitchen staff and volunteers adapted quickly to continue safely feeding hungry homeless and low-income guests. Nutritious bag lunches were distributed at the curb-side throughout 2020 and on into 2021. In addition to food, pre-packaged basics were given out—COVID-19 masks, ponchos, new socks and underwear, and hygiene packs—at no cost to the guests.
Indoor services were shuttered during the pandemic. When the wearing of masks in indoor workplaces is no longer advised by public health authorities, the plan is to resume indoor seating in the dining hall, and access to the clothing room, showers, and toilets. Until indoor services are resumed, the soup kitchen CANNOT accept donations of used clothing, but gladly accepts monetary donations.
